I hold a Ph.D. in clinical psychology, and am a licensed psychologist in Oregon and Washington. I began my practice in 1989 in Seattle, and then moved to Ashland, Oregon in 1998.
My life path has included joy, community, relationship, family, and achievement. It has also included change, loss and trauma. I bring to my work the understanding that comes from those experiences.
Prior to becoming a therapist, I was a teacher for 20 years. People often find it easy to talk to me and to work through their issues in my presence.
I have received training in several therapeutic systems. Among them are Gestalt, Psychodynamic Object Relations, Structural-Strategic Family Therapy, Psychosynthesis, Hypnosis and Play Therapy. I’ve been a trainer at Psychosynthesis of Puget Sound and at the Gestalt Institute of Seattle, and am a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. I have worked with trauma issues extensively and have taken training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a healing approach to trauma. I prefer to work in collaboration with my clients to find the approach that is most effective for them.
I provide a safe and supportive place for clients to undertake the challenging and often profound process of changing old ingrained patterns. I believe that each person has the ability to heal and that I am a catalyst or helper in that process. Clients describe me as creative and intuitive, compassionate yet provocative. I enjoy my work.
I look forward to meeting you where you are, and to helping you find the path to the place you wish to be.
